Summing up Summers!!!

SIRP

Summer Internship Recruitment Program

The four letter word above depicted the anxiety on the minds of all 207 students of batch of 2013 batch of SiBM. The anxiety started much before the beginning of September 2011 and continued to last 26 Sept. 2011… there were many versions of these anxiety, few of the versions are described below”
Type 1: Guys belonging to this group were the CHOSEN ONES during this process... these guys (and gals, to avoid discrimination) managed to get thru the companies in first 2 days… and YES, this WAS a big achievement, at least for the moment. These guys had a typical question of passing time after they got placed as they had all time in world but nothing substantial to do… One could easily identify the group of these guys by looking at their screens which either played some movie/ sitcom or games... the major reason for their frustration after 2 days was that they were being called for no reason at all.. They had to wake up and go through the daily rigor w/o any further incentive.
Type2:
These were mostly work ex guys… to frame it better, these were guys which were NOT required by any company, as all the companies needed a fresh perspective, which apparently could be provided only by freshers (Bullshit!!!, same expression which was used in the hall). These guys were NOT getting Shortlisted for first 3 days and even if one off company called them, there were slim chances of them to get thru PI. These guys were frustrated cos they saw freshers getting placed and losing out on the placements only cos they were OVERQUALIFIED with work ex… People often tell u that work ex would be useful during MBA but here was an eye opener!!!
Type 3:
These were the ppl were sitting idle thru most of the days cos they had chosen a stream which apparently needed NO Summer Internship as no company bothered to pick them up… these were generally from Finance. These ppl had given hopes on even getting calls for GDs…
Anyways with all these types of ppl around and around 200 students cramped inside the small hall AH2 for 12 long days (3 days off in it), it was like a refugee camp with food packets being shared even with only face friends..
All in all it was a tough but fun filled time... an experience of lifetime…
